We're Code 42, a group of fun folks located in Silicon Prairie (Minneapolis, MN). We've been building great software products together since the mid-nineties.

Our offices, on the top floor of the historic Plymouth Building, are a blend of nature and technology. One of the neat things about buildings built circa 1900 is that they had to be narrow and have a lot of windows to keep them cool without air conditioning. Everyone gets a window office at Code 42!
The idea for CrashPlan has been percolating for quite a while. We had a personal need to protect our own data around 2002 and realized backup was in serious need of re-inventing. Our key criteria were: easy to use, reliable and off-site. Then one of us had the idea to use a friend's machine to save money, the rest is history. After years of hard work, CrashPlan is a reality.
